It is correct that science (theoretically) progresses by hypothesizing and testing.

It is also correct that there is a lot of junk science floating around, where a hypothesis is proposed and then the testing proceeds with the assumption that any result not supporting the hypothesis is somehow faulty and should be discarded.

 

Junk science does get into Nature or the Lancet or PNAS!

Peer review ensures that does not happen.

You are manufacturing excuses to ignore data and concusions.

It is much easier to fool someone than to convince them they have been fooled.

The fact is, your cited article contains several flags that the authors a) have an agenda beyond testing a hypothesis and b) that the data has been massaged to support their hypothesis.

That there is peer review is correct, and that peer review is intended to spot errors and omissions.
It is incorrect to assume that a) this article has had rigorous peer review and b) that the conclusions are supported.

The cycle and range of the oscillation are there in the data going back 800,000 years.....the most recent data (since industrialization) are outside the oscillatory range!

Has been played with. The 800,000 year graph is a classic example of using long range data to support a recent development, all in the same chart.

It supports little more than "figures never lie, but liars figure".

The current C0 2 concentration in the air and by extension carbonic acid in the oceans are the highest level recorded for 800,000 years is my hypothesis supported by the data!

In everyone of those countries they have their own Gretas that take the lead.

It wasn't until three weeks before the Chile meeting it was decided that because of the riots down there it was best to move the next UN meeting to Davos.
