  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

I’m going to a potluck tomorrow and I usually bring my famous lemon cheesecake, but I’m bored with that. I need other ideas!

I make traditional NY style and Turtle cheesecakes.
Kevin makes chocolate/banana on a peanut butter cookie crust, and mango/habanero.
We make others but those are the ones we get requests for.
This is a great cheesecake recipe book.
Cheesecake Extraordinaire : More than 100 Sumptuous Recipes for the Ultimate Dessert: Crownover, Mary: 9780809235445: Amazon.com: Books
We always make it by the book once, then modify accordingly.
Cheesecake is easy but it is time consuming.
The one tip I always give is to let all of your ingredients come to room temp before starting and don't "overwork" the batter.

@shootersa i like the sound of toffee bars! Yum!!

@speakeasy I love cheesecake but weirdly just the plain kind with fruit topping. Not even chocolate. Oh that should go in my food quirk thread :p

      but those sound delicious!

The recipe I use for cheesecake calls for 5 bricks of cream cheese. My husband always raved about his mom's cheesecake, and then he tried mine. He changed his tune, and I told him he should never, ever tell his mom he likes mine more. Mom's is ALWAYS the best!

One thing I always use is a water bath. Nice and even heating and sooo smooth to eat.

Wish that I can provide one but never had to bring one before. Plus it doesn't help that I don't cook.

Found a few though on tasteofhome website.

You can always stop by the local grocer and pick up a veggie platter, shrimp cocktail platter.
Just don't be that guy who stops at Walmart and picks up a dozen packaged cookies.

Thanks!! Last event was for either Thanksgiving or Christmas with food already prepared at sister and law aunt's house. Outside that it was at friend's house long time ago for whom I barely talk to anymore. Honestly I barely speak with anyone at all especially family or close contacts. It has been like that all my life and not much has changed.

Heck last company I got was nephew and prior to that was niece. To say I got chocked up when niece came over as it was first time to happen.

      I'm in my own world.

Maybe little barbque chicken sandwiches? It also has to be something my kid loves because he will be eating the leftovers :D

I’m making meatballs today! I could make mini meatball subs but that’s a lot of fuss.

Make extra meatballs. Make a sauce out of grape jelly and chili sauce. Sounds weird, tastes great!

These shredded chicken sammies are well received.

    • 1 (3 pound) chicken - cooked, deboned and shredded
    • 2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
    • ¼ (16 ounce) package buttery round crackers, crushed
    • ½ teaspoon poultry seasoning
    • 12 hamburger buns
Combine shredded chicken, condensed soup, crushed crackers, and poultry seasoning in a large saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring frequently, until mixture is hot, 15 to 20 minutes. Serve warm on buns.

    Another favorite - Cherry Jell-O

    • 1 small box of cherry Jell-O
    • 1 can of cherry pie filling
    • 1 cup boiling water
Combine boiling water with Jell-O, stirring til powder is dissolved. Stir in pie filling. Chill until set.

The chicken one is really easy if you use a crock pot and skinless, boneless chicken. Cook the chicken in it, shred it, then add the other ingredients. Easy peasy, George and Weezy!

It varies. We usually ask the person coordinating the event what they need after everyone else lets them know what they're bringing then we fill in the gap.
Between the two of us, there's not much we can't make.
When you live in a culinary wasteland, you better know your way around a kitchen

I don't cook - unless you can throw it on the grill or in the microwave - and I haven't been to a pot luck dinner since probably before the turn of the century, so... vodka.

Mars bar cake is hella simple and takes like 30 minutes
Ends up like rice crispy squares but with a million calories

I like to bring something that doesn't have to stay either hot or cold, so it keeps well on a buffet table.
Spinach dip with sourdough bread cubes
    Cheese and crackers
    Dessert bars
    Cupcakes
    Mini cheesecakes
    Tortilla pinwheels
7 layer bean dip with tortilla chips

I went with lemon bars and they were a big hit! And no clean up because I told everyone to take the leftovers and I used compostable plates.

I always bring bacon wrapped dates stuffed with a pecan. They are good hot or cold. Messy little suckers to make though.
    Meaty, sweet little nut bites.

Be sure to label for nut allergies though.
